here's a band that was once
tipped for great things because they sounded like a baby tool.
ironic, then, that they did something very tool-like, in a
completely non-tool-sounding way. they went away and
forged a whole new sound - one which has, and still will leave
most people confused.
building on the foundations
they laid with 02's cellular memory, miocene have created an
album that's as astonishing as it is annoying. dominated
by squarepusher-esque skittering, electronica, intelligent
metal and fast-paced, urban sprawl british hip-hop, they've
carved themselves out an entirely new genre.
if you're a trend-hopping
music fan who loves, ooh lets say the bravery, because some
shit magazine told you to then fcuk right off, you'll find
nothing of interest.
the swamp is a
challenging headfcuk of an album, but one that's well worth
the pain.
