While their first ep “refining the theory” was a mass of soaring aggression, grating guitars and brutal vocals, this record draws from many different influences including hip-hop, electronica, yet succeeds in keeping the basis of a heavy sound.  Using loops, samples and a more laid back approach, Miocene have created a sound that works on so many more levels.  An impressive ep that will appeal to many people.

 

Standout track: State of Flux; superb melodic vocals over samples and loops, all combined to perfection.
