Porcelain Roach were inside
the bar down below, the venue upstairs hadnt yet opened so we
all congregated downstairs, some of us sat around a table
checking out the new rocksound whilst some were sitting by the
bar area, Bob went off to meet some friends of his, two girls
one of whom who had got to know one of the band members last
time they were here, no names or I will be wearing concrete
boots at the bottom of the Thames.
Upstairs got opened when
the people turned up, the joyous process of carrying equipment
upstairs began, the place wasnt big but it wasnt small, it was
one of those places that got real hot real quick kinda venues.
Porcelain Roach had
unloaded everything but then decided that they couldnt go
ahead with the gig, Nick had bodged his voice after a night
out and they thought it would be for the best to save his
vocals for tomorrow but then things took a turn for the
better, Nick said they should play a shorter set moments
before they were going to load up.
Soundcheck got underway,
it all sounded pretty good, after which the band headed off to
get some food, I declined and wandered around the area looking
for the posters advertising tonight to take a photo of, it was
odd seeing their faces on walls, must have been stranger for
them though to see their faces covering walls.
People were starting to
gather outside, quite a lot by the time doors were about to
open meanwhilse downstairs in the bar was some guy performing
on an acoustic guitar whilst people sang along.
The place packed out
pretty quick, it was like rush hour on the tube but without
the briefcases and attitude.
