Everything and everyone
inside the band setup their stuff on the cosy stage whilst I
set about getting the merch stall ready, sorting through the
tshirts, organising them properly to make the next few days
easier upon myself.
Soundcheck was about to
get started, the venue may not have looked that hot but the
sound coming out of them speakers and off that stage was sweet
as Miocene ran through 'Sustained Reaction' ironing out
any little creases, the sound tonight was going to be top
notch.
Well with soundcheck
over, the band needed to fill up their rumbling stomachs and
so headed off to get some food, too nervous to eat I stayed
behind making some final adjustments to the merch stall,
rearranging the layout in a failed bid to calm myself down,
silly really considering I wasnt the one going up onstage and
performing in front of people.
It was 8pm and
surprisingly the doors opened when they said they would,
something that rarely happens at the gigs I go to, the people
trickled in, some heading to the bar, others heading straight
to the front, separated from the stage by a flimsy looking
piece of metal railing whilst the rest wandered over, took a
look at the tshirts onsale & glanced down at the email list &
flyers on display.
My face lit up when I
saw people walking in with miocene tshirts on, a sign that
they came here when Miocene played here last, I smiled even
more when people signed up for email & bought some tshirts &
feeling brave I attempted to make conversation with them.
I spent most of the
night deciphering the ages of the audience, as well as
deciding which barmaid I thought was the cutest, damn it wasa
close one but before I came to a conclusion Porcelain Roach
had made their way onstage, they sounded extra fine in
soundcheck and well what can I say the more I see them the
more I like.
As soon as their set
ended I made my way forward, I wanted to take some photos
tonight as well as singalong, my communiction skills and
confidence arent the best in the company of strangers so I
pretty much stood in silence upfront, its hard judging whether
people want to be talked to or not.
