(iii) the show

The lights dimmed, people put down their drinks and the empty dancefloor filled up and then Graham walked on to the sound of applause and cheering which was soon drowned out by the noise he created with his pedals.  during the aural assault Leo & Alex took their places whilst Ben strolled on last, placing his bottle of water down and picking up the microphone.

'We are Miocene and this is 'Free Reign'', well something along those lines anyway were the words flowing from his mouth before Leo's drums & Graham's guitar kicked in stirring up the crowd, the place was moving.
It was hot upfront, must have been hell onstage with them lights, no room to move so I the photo taking began, though every once in a while I would glance over my shoulder, I dont like pain and I like to know when I am about to get impaled on a metal railing.

The sound was a clean & crisp as it was during soundcheck, 'Pure' followed, the crowd slowing down slightly since the song runs at a slower pace, the people behind were able to dance now which is always cool for those that like me dont fare well inside a pit.

'Sustained Reaction' came next, Ben informing the crowd this one was a new song, different in style from their original material I was interested to see how the people would react & I was pleased to say it was all good on the floor, 9minutes of aural pleasure.

The classic '9mm High & Rising'  was the next tune to get played, the band always like adding something new to their tunes and there was no exception this time, Leo performing a little drum solo before the tune kicked in, its always cool to watch the song s evolve.

Miocene slowed things down once again, this time with the beautiful 'Shine', the crowd pretty much came to a standstill since well up until the end of the song when the tune explodes.

As soon as the song ended Porcelain Roach along with their manager started yelling out for Rivets, sadly with only time for one tune it wasnt played instead it was the high octane 'Fits Like That' that rang out from the speakers.
Memories rushing back to me of the bruises I had acquired in the past, I made my way back to the merch stall, sat on the desk and sangalong from there whilst watching the crowd go wild and move around.

As the set came to a close the crowd cheered & applauded, Ben thanking them for turning up before heading backstage with the rest of the band to cool off.

Most of the people headed out, some hung around to chat to the bands whilst some came up to me and bought stuff as well as leaving their names behind.

It had been a goodnight, all that remained was to load up, which didnt take that long to do, it was just the time inbetween spent chatting that delayed us, though it was worth it to find out about what certain band members from Porcelain Roach had allegedly been upto before bidding them goodbye.
