(iii) the show

It was time, Miocene made their way onstage, Graham opening the set with the usual aural assault from his pedals as the people made their way to the dancefloor, some holding onto the barrier and some heading into the middle to get some pit action when the music kicked off.

The set underway and the band in full swing to the opening tune of tunes 'Free Reign', Ben pouring his heart and soul out onstage to the crowd infront as he moved around, totally absorbed in the music, his body not his anymore, controlled solely by the music, an amazing sight to watch unfold before you.

'Pure' followed and once more Graham and his guitar were one entity, seing him play is truly incredible, I have never seen someone get so lost in the music whilst playing Guitar, its as though the guitar controls him, his body moving in time.

'Sustained Reaction' went down well with the crowd, the dancers and moshers did their best to get to grips with a song they hadnt heard before whilst I clung onto the railing singing along watching the guys onstage, smiling to myself as the crowd enjoyed the sounds radiating off the stage, the dancefloor as it should be a place for people to enjoy the music without fear of getting hurt.

As it ended I knew what was next but it didnt spoilt anything for me, Leo wowing me with his drum skills as he performed the opening solo prelude to '9mm High & Rising' before launching the song off.  Leo may be tucked away at the back at every gig but his presence can be felt no matter where you are, the energy he puts into every performance outstanding & inhuman and if you ever have the pleasure of seeing him in action you will notice that he like the others is totally absorbed by the music, body and drums becoming one.

Time for a change in pace as 'Shine' followed, slowing down the place but only temporarily since the slow burner erupts towards the end allowing the bodies below to move around once more.  Well as the song ended I knew there was time for just one more, 'Fits Like That', the tune familiar to most thanks to that Kerrang CD last December.

Alex had been in full flow all night throughut the final song remained locked inside the music world, the determination clearly visible in his eyes as his body moved in time to the music.

Glancing at the crowd as the song drew to a close you could tell they had had a goodtime and liked what they heard, I made my way back to merch and listened to the cheers and applause coming from the floor as Ben thanked the crowd for tonight before heading off with the others to cool down.
