(i) the journey

The next morning I awoke, the others were sound asleep, I tiptoed over the them towards the door & attempted but failed to open the door without it creaking as I made my way into the bathroom, upon my return the bodies had started to move, Graham the first to emerge from his sleeping bag, popping outside to have a smoke, the rest sat up eventually when the television got turned on.

Graham was closest to the remote so he guided us through the channels, our first stop some sort of jazz channel that really did my head since it was all that freaky squeaky schizophrenic stuff, thankfully it ended only for it to be replaced by some old black drummer who might have been the business back in the day but he just sat on his stool in front of an auidence wearing a big dopey grin whilst playing with no talent on display, my drumming skills are better than his and I cant play ;p

Fed up being the one with the power, Graham handed the remote to Leo, mtv2 was our first stop off, it happened to be 'nu-metal' hour which resulted in the fastest changeover of channel, saving us all from Papa Roach live at Ocean, our saviour channel was the cartoon network & The Powerpuff Girls ;p

Sadly the show had just ended with the young girls flying across the screen after defeating another odd villain before the theme tune by Bis kicked in 'Fighting crime to save the world, the Powerfpuff Girls', what followed however was Dexters Laboratory and this show has its moments, today Dexter had to team up with his arch enemy (the kid that fancies Dee Dee) to save the world but before the show ended the television died on us.

We were all up and ready to go but before we did Carla asked Miocene if they needed some more strings and drumsticks since her brother is in a band called Marbles who are signed up in & they get them free, Leo & Graham both said yes to the offer and within twenty mins Carla's brother and bandmate were around at hers.

They were both really thin men clad in denim & reminded me of how Supergrass used to look when they first came into the public eye, a little conversation ensued as we thanked them as well as told them about the remaining gigs & they wished us good luck.

On our way out of the lounge the Charlie Brown keyring I acquired from the service station caught the eye of Carla, she said it was really cute and well I took if from my bag and gave it to her,a little token of gratitude for being so kind to us though I made sure she promised me she would take good care of him, which she did as she hooked him onto her keyring.

The van door slid open and we all got in as did Carla, sadly she wasnt coming with us for the remaining gigs but just to direct us to take us to the local shops so we could get some food & good food it was, freshly baked snacks warming us up as we dropped Carla off and set off for Aberdeen but not before thanking her and waving goodbye.

We were commenting the day before that we had to stop off at somepoint to take in the beautfiul scenery around us and well thats what we did today, we took the scenic route to Aberdeen, the sky was blue, it was sunny and the speakers were pumping away thanks to the heavy sound of Charger and looked like they were going to blow when the Herbaliser CD started.

The roads were narrow and quite scary, Tony drove wonderfully but the people coming towards us were speeding, it got worse as we drove around Loch Lomond when the coaches started coming our way, I was baking brownies when it came to going round the bends.

Nowhere good to stop around Loch Lomond, too many tourists spoling the view we drove on and stopped at the next lake which was pretty big but nowhere near as big as Loch Lomond, the mutha of lakes from my limited experiences.  It may have been backing onto the roadside but it was one of the most peaceful and gorgeous places I had ever been to, the type of place I could see myself on bended knee declaring my love to someone before proposing to them.

The lake was surrounded by trees and opposite us was just fields of the greenest grass & trees, truly beautfiul, the solitary house on the hill wasnt anything special but to wake up every morning and see nothing but the lake and trees is special enough to me, we all paused, stared into the grey sky and commented on how beautiful it was, how it made us remember just how small we really are & how in everday city life there is nothing as beautfiul as what lay before us.

Our Nature hunger satisfied, Graham & Leo picked up some pebbles and skimmed a couple across the lake, Leo made his pebbles travel the furthest with the minimal amount of skips whilst Graham pulled off more skips over a shorter distance.

On our way back we saw the otherside of nature, in the stream that flowed into the lake was the skull & ribcage of an animal, probably a sheep judging by its size, a reminder that life is incomplete without death, the poor creature must have died painfully since its ribcage was all over the place were spread out.

The break we just took lasted longer then we could afford considering that we had further to go than I originally thought, upfront and slightly edgy in the van I tried to chill whilst the guys in the back put Die Hard into the video, a film I thought might calm me down since it was a favourite of mine when I was 12 but when I ewatched it today I couldnt believe I thought it was any good, my comments resulted in a death stare from Alex and the tutting from the others, guess I have grown up.

We may have been running late but the roads thankfully were perfect, empty with no problems, someone up there definitely likes us, even so I couldnt stop worrying about it, Ben phoned the venue and told them we would be late, so all was cool.

The van needed fuel so we made our first stop off for fuel today at a petrol station, Graham, Leo, Alex & Dave all bought these multi purpose tools, I nearly bought myself a cuddly Pikachu but resisted and headed back to the van, studied the map & plotted the route to Montrose where we going to pick up Bob, our place to stay for the night.

Ben got out in Montrose and went into a bookstore and then reappeared with talking to a tall guy with glasses and long hair, this was Bob, not in the mood to chat, too nervous about what time we make it I must have seemed rude to him as we drove off towards Aberdeen, I soon cheered up when Bob knew where we had to go and directed us to the venue when we got into Aberdeen.
