(iv) the aftermath

The people made their way out of the place pretty quick, a couple bought tshirts & joined the miomail list but the majority just left pretty quick so I didnt have to hang around long before packing up and heading to the van, we didnt leave straight away though even thought there was nothing to load up, the promoter told us we could hang around for as long as we wanted in the dressing room outside, which we did.

I went inside and grabbed a chair, Alex took a shower whilst the bands just chatted away, I spied some unwrapped chocolate amongst the bottles and glasses on the table, I had gone without for three days and couldnt resist the power of cocoa anymore, the chocolate in question was Bournville, the original dark chocolate, only 36% solids I dont think so, my 70% plus friends may have something to say about that but beggars cant be choosers and so armed with a glass of milk I ate eight squares.

The conversations going on were mad enough already, the dark side of Porcelain Roach surfacing once more and by the time the cocoa kicked in I was crossing the line between decency and debauchery more so than when I am cocoa free but it didnt matter since the topics in that room were so far across the line my comments were simply the normal.

Well we were all having fun in there but decided it was time to go, the promoter told us we could reneter the venue which was now a club full of polo shirts, hooped gold earrings, reebok classics, tighter than tight denim & house music, I think the decision to head back to Montrose was the smart one.

Porcelain Roach were undecided about what to do as we said goodbye & reversed out of the place and hit the road once, our direction Montrose, we made stopped off at a petrol station to stop the midnight munchie attack, the taste for chocolate firmly on my tastebuds I bought two pints of milk and a pack of resealable plain chocolate digestive and by the time we got to Bobs half the pack had disappeared into my stomach.

The rumours were true then as I stepped into Bobs house, I was expecting a some house down by the sea on its own and was disappointed when we parked on the high street and walked through a courtyard to get to his front door but when I got in, wow, more than meets the eye, large staircase complete with scary portrait on the landing, a huge room to the my right but we went left and into the reading room, a room Bob said he rarely goes into.

Leo & Alex grabbed the sofa, Dave got one armchair as did Graham, the rest of us sat on the floorspace in front of the fire, a friendly conversation got underway, it developed into a very deep conversation where we spoke frankly about our views on life, it was cool to learn that we all thought pretty much along the same lines, this was the first time I had engaged in such a deep conversation with them other than Ben.

By then we had been talking for a longtime and it was probably wiser to sleep than carry on talking, Leo stretched himself out on the sofa whislt the others were on the floor in their sleeping bags except for Graham who went to sleep in one of the beds as did Tony.
I curled up into a ball but couldnt sleep, too many thoughts running through my head, all about my non existent lovelife, the chocolate eased the irrational pain and thoughts as well as the pen and paper in my hand, I eventually went to sleep after reading the comforting words written by someone close I keep with me for times like this.
