Porcelain Roach got things
off to a fine start, belting our their delicious music to the
crowd who were loving every second of it, the sound was superb
and the crowd were really getting into it tho the pit was a
safe place to be, no violent moshing just the perfect sardine
squish when people stick to one another and sway back and
forth but security stepped in once when a couple tried to turn
the squish into a not so peaceful place.
The crowd showed that
they loved them by applauding and cheering loudily as their
set ended.
Miocene were backstage,
Ben went off to warm up his voice, the others sitting down
chatting away and then when they got the call they made their
way onto the stage greeted by cheers and claps from the
audience.
I knew had zero chance
of survival or enjoyment upfront so I stood behind the PA in
a failed attempt to get pictures due to the railings whilst
Graham started things off as usual with the sonic assault
created by his pedals before bursting into 'Free Reign'
the crowd went wild, upfront they were moving as much as they
could whilst singing back every word, impressive and
heartwarming to know that the music had reached inside of so
many people, not just here but on the tour and around the
country.
Ben was wearing the 'miotool'
tshirt, people were commenting on it,some didnt get it but
most of them did, the band too far into their music to take
notice of reality though somehow they always manage to keep an
eye out on the crowd to make sure no one gets hurt, tonight
was no different, Ben asking the people to look out for one
another.
I headed to the back of
the crowd, tapping my feet and singing along, it was a fine
performance tonight, the sound was beautiful, my final night &
their final night up north was going well and it was reflected
onstage as they played their hearts out, mind, body and soul
in every song, great music and great stage presence.
A full set got played
tonight, 'Free Reign, 'Pure', 'Sustained Reaction', '9mm
High & Rising', 'Shine' and to the audiences delight as
well as mine and Porcelain Roachs, the first song they ever
wrote as Miocene, the first song played at the first Miocene
gig and the opening song at early Miocene shows 'Rivets',
it had been a while but the wait was worth it.
'Fits Like That'
was of course the closing song, a firm favourite with everyone
ever since it appeared on that Kerrang CD last December, the
crowd grooved away as the set sadly drew to a close, cheering
and applause filled the room as the band said their thanks
yous and goodbyes before stepping offstage and heading
backstage to cool down.
