(iv) the aftermath

The venue got cleared out pretty quick, those who wanted to buy stuff were allowed to stay longer so those that wanted to chat to the band waited outside by the vans as well as by the entrance, I packed up and headed backstage to join the others.

The skateboard was out by the time I got backstage, Graham & Dave were attempting the same trick they practiced in the car parks of the service stations but instead of a conrete ledge to jump off they used the snooker tables, Dave the only one who pulled it off tonight.

I was still in that funny mood and took it upon myself to hand out novelty freebies to the crowd outside the window, the first thing that caught my eye was the fruit in the fruitbowl, I asked the people down below first of course before gently dropping an ornage out of the window, Dave joined in my crusade to promote fruit in the diet of young people.

Porcelain Roach decided to give away some very odd items, our unused icecubes, some cans of beer and a bright yellow traffic type cone, all done of course without injuring anyone or damaging anything.

Well we ran out items to giveaway but I looked around and then my empty pizza box caught my eye, pineapple chunks!!! Asking before dropping, one guy volunteered and stood with his mouth open as I dropped down one chunk at a time, I think he managed to catch one of them in his mouth.

My minibout of madness over, my sanity returned to me when we decided we should go, I scouted around for our belongings as the guys unloaded, nothing left behind I took the stairs down with the merch box in my arms, it was nearly empty, only a few tshirts left inside, we had sold a lot tonight and with this fact in my mind my grin broadened further :p

Down by the van there were people chatting to the band members that were there, Alex was playing Tetris with the equipment, his sorting skills are matched by no one, I chatted a bit before heading back to help with the rest of unloading, when everything was out I chatted to those that remained, all of them the beautiful messageboarders.

The band posed for photos with their fans, it was cool to watch, I felt guilty that we had nothing to give to these dedicated fans, I rustled around and gave them some ICA flyers, not much I know but they wouldnt have seen them and they got them all signed by the band which is something and thats better than nothing :p

Graham got the skateboard out and started skating around the now clean basement, he was clearly having fun, pulling off tricks as he whizzed around, practicing the tricks he had been practicing in the car parks, away in another world just like when he play guitar ;p

I did one last minesweep upstairs, returning with a rucksack, a tshirt soaking in sweat and Ben, the bag belonging to Porcelain Roach, the tshirt was the 'miotool' one and Ben who belongs to his parents, hehe..... ;p

We were still in the basement when the university security came up to us and asked us to leave, Graham whizzed around once more before riding out of the place, the doors shut, Miocene had left the building, hehe ;p

It was getting late, the messageboarders bid us goodbye as we did them, we said our goodbyes to Porcelain Roach, wishing them a safe journey before getting into the van and driving off, hooting and waving at the messageboarders, tonight had been a fine night and fine way to end the northern tour but the night was still young :p

Graham slid the Porcelain Roach CD into the stereo, the beautiful music from tonight was now playing through the speakers, upfront the music made me think of someone special & close to my heart, a female who I hadnt seen for a while and was scared of facing since I was venturing in new emotional territory.

Guiding Tony to Manchester on the pitch black motorway was quite scary, the light on in the back meant the closing of the curtain between the back and driver to stop the light reflecting off the window but by then everyone was asleep except Ben who was wearing his glasses and reading.

I stayed awake as long as I could but nodded off to sleep whilst Tony on sipping on Red Bull with fresh air blowing on his face was wide awake driving, the next time I awoke was at a petrol station on the outskirts of Manchester, at this point I swapped places with Dave since he lived here and would be the one directing Tony to his place.

A short time later we stopped again though this time outside Dave's, the cold air striking our faces as we got out, we scuttled to the front door as fast as possible and made our way into the lounge where two rather attractive women in dresses were on the sofa, my face lit up, well I had just eaten some mint chocolate :p

Dave introduced us to them, they were his housemates, they had been out all night and had just got back in and were channel surfing, nothing was on as per usual then theyhanded the remote to Leo, we settled for some Judge Judy, she was yet analysing the lives of dysfunctional inbred mullet men and their stripper wives, well you know what I mean ;p

In my mint intoxicated state I rattled off my usual remarks, turning a few heads, Leo ranting about how how I needed a woman fast and how he was going to hook me up with one, the others agreeing with him as my mind ticked thinking fresh thoughts, the most disturbing one was that Judge Judy was attractive, eek...

Fortunately by then another housemate returned though he was in a bad mood, our cue to go upstairs with Dave and get some sleep, Tony already in cloud cuckoo land on the bed, we took the floor on the cushions Dave had laid out for us and getting to sleep didnt take long it was 4am and we were planning to be up at 9am.
